Attend represents over 35,000 volunteers in health and social care across the UK.
The purpose of the APPG is to provide an opportunity for people with a long term condition to have some representation in Parliament. There are many APPGs covering a huge range of topics and this is certainly the case in health. One of the purposes of a long term conditions APG would be to provide a place for some condition specific APPGs to join forces and discuss both issues relevant to patients with that illness but also issues of common concern. This was raised in the House of Commons recently by John Pugh MP.
The APPG will meet to discuss, investigate and report on a range of specific long term conditions and common issues of concern to patients living with these conditions.
We aim to cover as many health conditions as we can and provide a place where patients can discuss in Parliament their experiences of living with conditions that may not currently have an APPG. These many long term medical conditions are not covered by any APPG so our objective is to ensure that patients with these conditions get a voice. At each meeting where a particular health condition is discussed we will hold the meeting with a relevant patient organisation to that condition.
We want the APPG to be constructive and useful with as many members as possible and include as many patients and patient organisations as possible.
